Castle Rock Landscaping Blocks
Among the most popular options for improving the appearance of a patio, front yard pool area are inexpensive, easy-to-use Castle Rock landscaping blocks. Available in many colors, these modern masonry products can beautify your home and garden at a fraction of the cost of quarried stone.
This versatile building material offers the look and texture of stone without the weight – or cost – of the real thing.
Castle Rock is available from a number of construction supply companies, and made from either a colored cement-aggregate mixture, making them easier to handle than stone. Some companies sell pre-fab, stone-look products that they call "castle rock" that are actually made of polyurethane – a different material than that made with the patented cement formulation. Castle Rock blocks are frequently used to front buildings for a stone look, as they're lighter than real stone and can be bonded directly to the outside walls of a structure to a dd a rich, multi-textured look.
Made from rugged, weather-resistant concrete combined with lightweight aggregate, Castle Rock blocks are an excellent choice for outdoor landscaping. A patented manufacturing process called "variable depth splitting" creates a multidimensional surface that creates a beautiful play of light and shadow across the face of the faux stone. Castle Rock generally comes in 8" x 16" blocks (although half and custom sizes are available, up to 48" x 30"), its surface broken up by "blocks" of three different depths, making it look like genuine, hand-hewn rock.
As a landscaping material, Castle Rock blocks may be used to create authentic looking garden walls. After building a simple concrete block wall, Castle Rock may be bonded to the wall with mortar, bringing an expensive Old World look to your landscaping for a reasonable price.
